After early success, Leeds United’s contract ‘may be extended’ – Everything is dependent on how this season unfolds.
Marc Roca, a Leeds United midfielder, might return to Real Betis on loan next season if Daniel Farke’s side is not promoted back to the Premier League.
HThat’s according to Mucho Deporte, who covered the player today and how he’s on track for his highest goalscoring season if his early season form continues.
According to the report, Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini ‘has tremendous confidence’ in the Leeds loanee and feels he can be a valuable attacking player, leaving defensive duties to Guido Rodrguez and Andrés Guardado.
Roca has already scored two goals this season, and if all goes as planned, he should surpass that total and, in the process, improve his personal goalscoring record for a season. He’s never scored more than two goals for Espanyol, Bayern Munich, or Leeds United.
Doing so at Betis would only reinforce to him and the Spanish club that the contract was a wise one to make, and according to Mucho Deporte, it may be extended as well.
Roca is only on loan at the club for the season, having taken advantage of a clause in his Leeds contract that permitted him to depart on loan after the club was relegated.
He’s been happy with the transfer so far, expressing so whenever he can, and it’s even been claimed in Spain that he has a ‘complete predisposition’ to sticking at Betis in the long run.
It’s now being reported that his loan ‘may be extended for another year’ if Leeds are not promoted back to the Premier League.
It’s unclear whether this is a provision in the initial loan agreement or if Leeds will just let him go again if they fail to return to the top flight.
In any case, this is the first mention of Roca’s loan possibly being extended, so it’s something to keep an eye on going forward.
