Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has urged his team to replicate their effort against PSG when Borussia Dortmund comes to St James’ Park on Wednesday.
The Magpies stunned the football world by defeating the Ligue 1 winners 4-1 in their last winners League encounter to take the lead in Group F.
When Dortmund visits Tyneside, the club will want to increase their position, and Howe has highlighted that his team will need to reproduce the intensity of their PSG performance in order to generate the environment required to succeed again.
“It’s going to be a tough game,” Howe remarked in his pre-game press conference. “The beauty of the PSG game was the entire environment created by the fans, but we must forget about that result.”
“Take the confidence from it, but try to recreate that atmosphere, and for us, try to recreate those intensity levels and quality of our play in order to win the game.”
“It’s yet another true top test.” This group was always going to be that way, and it’s a pleasure to be a part of it.”
With Sven Botman and Joe Willock still out, Howe still has some injury concerns. Despite allegations that a ban for alleged illegal betting activity is impending, the 45-year-old stated he expects Sandro Tonali to be available.
Despite worries about his involvement against Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali trained normally.

The Newcastle manager was keen to keep his team focused on the task at hand, with success over Dortmund likely to prove important to his side’s qualifying prospects ahead of two consecutive away games.
“We have to focus on this competition now,” he remarked. “We’re mindful of our surroundings. It’s an important game in the group since we have two tough away games coming up.
“It won’t be easy, but we have to give it our all to win this game.” We must make it as difficult as possible.
“We’ve gotten off to a good start, but we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves.” This is a crucial game for the team.”
The game begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at St James’ Park.
