After turning down summer interest, two Leeds United players’ prices are sure to increase.
Leeds United held on to key assets over the summer, and as a result, some of those players have seen their stock rise under Daniel Fark.
Farke fought hard to keep this Leeds club together throughout the summer months, with players moving on loan at an alarming rate, and has done well to guarantee his side is capable of competing for promotion.
In the process, he has been blessed with one of, if not the, most talented setups outside of the Premier League.
Some players were plainly the subject of substantial transfer interest that the club turned down, some on Farke’s orders, and their prices have undoubtedly risen since then.
Here, we look at two players whose market worth has risen dramatically as a result of their performances…
Pascal Struijk is a Dutch writer.
Pascal Struijk’s confidence was shattered at centre-back after Spurs attacked us for four on the final day of last season, when we were suffering in defense.
Farke, on the other hand, snatched him up, ensuring that Club Brugge’s desire never materialized, and made him a key fixture in his back four alongside Joe Rodon.
Struijk was never going to be sold for that cheap, despite Belgian interest in the “low teens,” according to Angus Kinnear, and his performances this season surely make him worth double that.
It’s early days, and genuine consistency from the Dutchman at center-back will come over the course of a whole season, but he’s establishing not only that he’s worth keeping, but that he’s one of the finest in the division.
Geoirginio Rutter
Most will regard Georginio Rutter’s fee of £36 million as an exorbitant premium for a guy who everyone knows is a future talent.
However, it was always the case that Leeds bought for potential rather than a £36 million-plus player last season.
He was never ‘worth’ that much in terms of the value he gives to our squad, but he’s now demonstrating the quality in the Championship that would actually warrant that kind of price, if not more.
At 21, he is far from finished, which makes it thrilling to imagine what kind of player he could become in the coming years.
