‘Second yellow’: Mike Dean believes a £36 million Liverpool player should have been sent off against Everton.

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean believes Liverpool central defender Ibrahima Konate should have been sent red in the Merseyside derby against Sean Dyche’s Everton.

Everton were defeated 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

In the second half, Mohamed Salah scored both goals for Liverpool.

The first goal was scored from a penalty spot.

Ashley Young was sent off in the first half, reducing Everton to 10 men.

I believe it was the correct decision.

Young should have done better with his second yellow card.

Liverpool, on the other hand, could have been reduced to ten men in the 66th minute.

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean believes that Liverpool central defender Ibrahima Konate should have received a second yellow card for his challenge on Beto.

The Sky Sports £36 million defender was already on a yellow card

As the Toffees broke, Konate pinched the heels of Everton star Beto.

Soon later, the defender was replaced.

“I think it’s a second yellow,” Dean remarked on Sky Sports News (1:55pm, October 21, 2023).

“In terms of consistency, you send a player out for two fouls in the first half.

“He’s done two in less than ten minutes.”

“I guarantee you he will get substituted.”

Everton were mistreated against Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konate, in my opinion, should have been sent off for Liverpool.

At the time, the game was scoreless.

That may have affected the outcome of the game.

Who knows, Everton might have won the Merseyside derby if each team had 10 men.

The referee, in my opinion, should have shown Konate the second yellow card and sent him off.
