“If they pay €100m…” – Newcastle United told how much they’d have to pay for a deal, and the manager comments about his star

We previously reported on Newcastle United’s interest in Viktor Gyokeres, suggesting the Magpies were among the strongest possibilities to capture the striker from Coventry City last summer.

Sporting, on the other hand, won the race for him, and after spending only €20 million on his signing, his excellent start at the club gives them a good opportunity of making a large profit from his sale.

As rumors of Gyokeres’ early departure circulated, manager Ruben Amorim was queried about the striker’s possible departure today. According to O Jogo, the manager argues that only the release clause will force the player to leave the club.

“He has a clause in his contract.” As far as I know, someone will only leave with a clause this year. So if they offer €100 million, he’ll have to leave. “Until then, he’ll be a Sporting player,” Amorim explained.
If Newcastle is still interested in the player, it is likely that they will be disappointed that they did not pursue him more aggressively last summer.

Gyokeres has eight goals and two assists in nine appearances since joining Sporting, demonstrating the enormous promise he displayed at Coventry City.

Aside from Newcastle, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Sevilla are rumored to be interested in him, but they lack the necessary cash.
