Leeds United transfer whispers swirl as Liam Cooper awaits new contract discussions after turning down a summer escape.

On Tuesday, October 17, a look at the most recent Leeds United transfer rumours.

Liam Cooper is awaiting new contract negotiations after rejecting a summer departure.

According to Phil Hay of The Athletic, Liam Cooper is still waiting for new discussions to begin with Leeds United after rejecting a proposal from the Middle East in the summer. In the summer, Al Qadsiah manager Robbie Fowler made an approach for Cooper, and former Whites goalkeeper Joel Robles also moved to Saudi Arabia.

Cooper reportedly urged Leeds United to extend his contract for another 12 months, despite the fact that he is nearing the conclusion of his present deal. However, a foot injury sustained in the Championship opener against Cardiff City not only put an end to a move away from Elland Road, but also put contract talks on hold.

Hay believes that the club will most likely reopen discussions after the new year. Daniel Farke will have the last say on any new contracts, and with the team aiming for promotion, the Premier League will pose more questions than the Championship in 2024-25.

Kenny McLean believes his Norwich City team is targeting a return to the Premier League ahead of their match against Leeds United. Despite interest from Daniel Farke’s side, the Scotland international signed a new contract at Carrow Road earlier this year.

“This contract at Norwich takes me to 34, or maybe 35 if I trigger my last year,” MCLean explained to the Pink Un. “Everything is fine.” The club’s goals are similar to mine.

“I’ve been a part of two league-winning Norwich teams, so we can do it again.” When you’ve achieved success like that, you want it again. I can see the club’s strategy for taking us to the next level. That is something I would like to be a part of.

“Everyone wants to play in the Premier League, and I’ll get that chance while I’m at Norwich.” That (Leeds interest) was swiftly put to rest. It happens frequently, but Norwich demonstrated dedication to me and vice versa. The Championship has a lot of big clubs, but I’m confident in our squad.”
