KEVIN CAMPBELL CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED TO NEWCASTLE UNITED STAR: “THAT AIN’T THE SAME PLAYER”

Anthony Gordon’s advancement at Newcastle United following his transfer from Everton has pleasantly surprised Kevin Campbell.

The 22-year-old controversially moved from Everton to Newcastle United in January of last year.

Anthony Gordon’s experience at Goodison Park didn’t go well, despite the fact that it was his childhood club, and he went on to have a sluggish start at his new club.

Kevin Campbell told Football’s 12th Man that the England U21 international is no longer the same man he saw play for Everton, saying “that ain’t the same player.”

While at Everton, Anthony Gordon possessed the talent, but he lacked the consistency and ultimate product.

That was partly due to his age and playing for a weak team, but things are starting to change now.

Gordon, by the way, has greatly improved, Campbell added. “That’s not the player I saw at Everton,” I said. He has greatly improved.

“Eddie Howe is providing outstanding instruction. It was a huge accomplishment for him to get them into the Champions League in his first year.

Gordon competes in both the Champions League and the top half of the Premier League standings for Euro 2024.

The player can use that as a springboard to push for a senior call-up for England and secure a spot at Euro 2024 the following summer.

But given Gareth Southgate’s recent performance, he’ll likely choose a guy who isn’t getting much playing time and hasn’t scored rather than someone who is performing at the peak of their game.
