Arsernal play Villa in a Women’s Super League clash at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal Women vs. Aston Villa Preview

Aston Villa Women will travel to London for a 2-hour match against our Arsenal Women on Sunday afternoon. Both Arsenal and Villa will be looking for their first win of the Women’s Super League season, and with approximately 35,000 tickets already sold, it appears like Arsenal Women have a good chance to open their season in front of another large crowd at The Emirates.

Last season, Arsenal Women and Villa met three times in the WSL, with Arsenal winning twice and Villa losing once. We also met them in the playoffs, where we won 3-0 on our route to the Conti Cup.

Carla Ward, the manager of Aston Villa, spoke to the media prior of the match on Sunday and said that the team would be without up to three players. Kirsty

Hanson will not be available for selection after receiving a red card against Manchester United in their season opener and is expected to miss the next three games. Kenza Dali will also be absent after returning from the Women’s World Cup with an injury and has not trained with the squad since.

Women’s Arsenal Jonas Eidevall confirmed that, aside from Vivianne Miedema, Laura Wienroither, Teyah Goldie, and Leah Williamson, no other players are expected to miss the game, which will be welcome news to Arsenal Women’s fans, who may see Beth Mead return to the match-day squad for the first time since her horrific ACL injury. A great boost for Arsenal Women fans and Jonas Eidevall’s side, as well as a huge relief for Mead.

Sunday appears to be a critical game for the Arsenal Women and Jonas Eidevall if we want to get our season back on track. After a difficult start to the season, our women will be hoping to get back on track. With a large crowd forecast, the Emirates should be electrifying, so if you can, head down and support our Women as they attempt to get their first three points of the season.
