6 minutes of gameplay: Leeds United must be finding the £5 million ace’s transfer flop pretty amusing right now.

Leeds United attempted to recruit offensive midfielder Nadiem Amiri in August, but the player’s indecision and refusal caused the £5 million talks to fall through.

Given the players brought in and the circumstances that the 49ers and Daniel Farke passed on, there wasn’t much wrong with Leeds’ summer transfer activity.

If the club had been greedy, they could have added two more players: at left-back and in attacking midfield.

Leeds were in talks to recruit Bayer Leverkusen offensive midfielder Nadiem Amiri in August, and had agreed a fee of £5 million, according to The Athletic.

However, lengthy negotiations to recruit the player resulted in Leeds abandoning the agreement after persistent back and forth with the German international.

The deadline passed with Amiri still at Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, but he is not now part of their plans.

He was left out of their Europa League squad despite assertions that there was room for him in the group, and league participation is also scarce for him.

As we enter the international break, he has made three appearances in the Bundesliga but has only played six minutes, demonstrating that he is not considered as someone Alonso is willing to reintegrate following failed negotiations.

After expressing his reservations about joining a Championship club during the summer transfer window, his career at his current club is in jeopardy, and Leeds will not be sympathetic.
