I’m Thinking About My Future – Aston Villa’s Star Won’t Concentrate On Problems At Former Club

Nicolo Zaniolo wants to put his difficult time at Roma behind him and concentrate on excelling in the Premier League with Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old Italian joined Roma from Inter Milan in 2018 and made an immediate impact, becoming the 2018/19 Serie A Young Player of the Year.
His tenure at the Giallorossi was not without incident, with injuries limiting his appearances, and he publicly pushed his departure from the club during the winter transfer window this year.

Zaniolo joined Aston Villa on loan from Turkish club Galatasaray this summer, and he is already fitting into the Premier League.
Even though Zaniolo had his share of obligations back in Italy, he admitted that things could have ended lot better with Roma.

He does not want to be lured into thinking about Roma and prefers to think about Aston Villa.

“I’m not going to name names because I don’t like media wars,” Zaniolo told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com).

“But things could have gone differently at Roma: I have a lot of love for the fans, my teammates, the team, the city, and they love me.”

“It was a disappointment for me.”

“I have obligations, but so do other people.”

“When there are messes like this, it means that we all contributed.”

“But I don’t want to talk about the past, now I’m in the Premier League and I’m thinking about the future.”

Aston Villa are obligated to sign Zaniolo on a permanent basis if he meets specific goals during his stay at Villa Park.
