Key Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron faces Lionel Messi in a two-game ban – gallery

Two Newcastle United players have already withdrawn from international duty, but several others continue to participate.

The October international break has begun, with a number of Newcastle United players competing for their different countries.

Nine of the Magpies’ first-team players were called up, but two of them have since withdrawn. Alexander Isak was forced to withdraw from Sweden’s team due to a thigh injury, while Sandro Tonali has returned to Tyneside under an investigation by the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“The Federation announces that, in the late afternoon of today, the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office notified investigation documents to the players Sandro Tonali and Nicol Zaniolo, who are currently training with the national team at the Federal Technical Center in Coverciano,” read a statement from the Italian Federation.

“Regardless of the nature of the acts, believing that in this situation the two players are not in the necessary condition to face the commitments scheduled in the next few days, the Federation has decided, also to protect them, to allow them to return to their respective clubs.”

Bruno Guimaraes and Miguel Almiron played in the early hours of Friday morning, while a couple other players appeared on Thursday evening.

Here’s a rundown of how each player has performed on international service thus far, as well as a schedule of when the other players will be in action.
