After Wolves’ unexpected victory over Manchester City, Craig Dawson lauded Wolves’ manager Gary O’Neil.
Erling Haaland was silenced by the defender as Wolves battled to a 2-1 victory at Molineux on Saturday.

Ruben Dias’ early own goal was cancelled out by Julian Alvarez before Hwang Hee-chan scored the game’s winning goal in the second half.

Despite early criticism from fans, particularly following Tuesday’s 3-2 Carabao Cup loss at Ipswich, Dawson believed that O’Neil deserved all the praise for the team’s performance on Saturday.

He declared: “The manager deserves a lot of credit for organizing us so well, with the game plan, and getting us ready for the match, which he has done for every game. That triumph belongs to the manager.

“It was amazing to see this city buzzing, and it was a huge triumph.

“It’s obvious that we were man to man at times, but the players did a fantastic job of staying on task and following the game plan throughout the entire contest, which is great for the lads.

It was all about concentration and maintaining focus, and the manager deserves praise for organizing and preparing the team. Today, we stuck to the strategy and were successful.

Although their perfect start to the Premier League season came to an end in defeat, City is still in first place, one point clear of Tottenham and Arsenal, with a trip to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

“Of course, we’re all a little disappointed right now. Oscar Bobb, a midfielder for the team, told the club’s official website, “I guess we should have done more.

“Despite our efforts, we were unsuccessful in obtaining it. The next major game is Leipzig (in the Champions League on Wednesday), followed by Arsenal. We just consider the future.

“Losing is not the best feeling. Simply said, I want to keep pursuing more.

“We’re looking forward to it because it gives us the chance to show that we’re still the best team in the world.”
