Guardiola cites two Newcastle players from yesterday night who really impressed him.

After Newcastle United eliminated his team from the Carabao Cup, Pep Guardiola congratulated the Magpies and then praised their Brazilian combination.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, frequently praises Newcastle when they win and even now when they lose.

He began last night’s post-game press conference by complimenting Newcastle on their Carabao Cup advancement before praising Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.

Bruno and Joelinton made a strong impression on Guardiola.

The Chronicle on X reported that when questioned later if the way Newcastle started the second half surprised him, he responded: “Bruno’s impact was vital, Joelinton as always is important. We were aware of their improvement because we had previously played against Newcastle in a similar manner.

After a brief injury break, Joelinton returned for his first game, and he immediately demonstrated what we had been lacking.

His strength and perseverance were on full show throughout the evening, but never more so than during the dash into the box that set up Alexander Isak’s goal.

In order to get inside the Man City penalty area, Joelinton outran and outmuscled three players before shooting the ball across the net for Isak to finish.

Recently, Bruno appears to be performing at his peak for Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes quickly raised the side after entering the match at the break.

Bruno appears to be back to his best after a tough start to the season after his fantastic performances against Sheffield United and then Manchester City.

I’m hoping Guardiola is merely watching the pair from a distance and has no plans to try and steal them away from us.
